Manga Questions 1- 36

Please answer the following on the blog:
1. What is an example of a semiconductor device?
Semiconductor device amplifies signals or acts as a switch by controlling the current of voltage that is applied to an electrode. By this simple definition the variety of materials can be semiconductors like silicon, Germanium,

2. Why is silicon used in the manufacture of semiconductors?
Silicon can act as a integrated circuit because it is a semi conductive material, this is why it's presence is in everyday electronic devices is so popular.

3. Discuss the difference using an example of the difference between and N-type and P-type semiconductor.
N-Type - Negative
P- Type - Positive
Diode - a P-type semiconductor and N-type semiconductor are combined to form a structure called a P-N junction, a semiconductor conductor device is called  a diode is created.
So LED's  are a product of N and P - Types combined then you have a Anode (pType) Cathode (nType)

4. In your own workd describe what a dioode does and the role of N and P type semiconductors.
In my project I will be using the diode as a light detect for weather rates.

5. What is rectification?
Allows current to flow only in one direction.

6. What causes color in an LED? Give and example of what causes a particular color.
The energy that is produced at that time is emitted as light, Since wavelength of the light emitted depends on the raw material of the semiconductor various light can be created. Different semiconductors = different light color.

7. What is the relationship between base current and collector current in a transistor?
The current that flows from the base to the emitter is called the base current.
When a base current flows current will also flow from the collector to the emitter and that current is called the collector current. The Transistor enable the collector current to become much greater than the base current.
8. What are the advantages of a transistor over a switch?
The small base current can control the large collector- emitter current
the reasons this is better then s switch is because  it has no physical contact, so it doesn't wear out and is less likely to f
