Semiconductive device?
A diode is a semi-conductive device.
Silicon in manufacture of semiconductor?
Silicon is involved in semiconductor manufacture because putting a small amount of impurity atoms such as phosphorus or boron greatly increases the number or holes withing the semiconductor.
N-type vs. P-type?
The difference between the two types of semiconductors is which material is used to dope the semiconductor and the concentration.
What does a diode do and what is the role of N and P type semiconductors?
Diodes take in a electric current in one direction and block the current from the other direction. P type semiconductors mostly focus on positive aspects of a conductor while N type semiconductors focus on negative.
What is rectification?
the process of refinement or purification of a substance by distillation. the process of removing impurities.
What causes color in an LED?
When a sufficient amount of voltage is applied to the leads of an LED. Different colors in LEDs are caused by different intensities.
What is the relationship between base current and collector current in a transistor?
A base current controls the current through a transistor and a collector builds current in the transistor.
What are the advantages of a transistor of a switch?
A transistor allows for a steady control of the power increase and decrease in the voltage.
