Interview with Tom Igoe | Madeline Morales
I found the interview with Tom Igoe to be lighthearted and a good read, especially because Tom Igoe himself seems to be relatable. He doesn't come from a very fine-arts background, having studied light design for theater, and doesn't particularly see himself as a fine artist, which is something I can relate to. His taste in artwork seems to be lighthearted, and reflect his background, as he mentions he prefers work created by people who don't solely do fine art. When citing influential physical computing works, he listed Dance Dance Revolution and the works of Meiwa Denki as two important pieces--both of which value fun interactivity and humor as important factors (although, in particular he cited Denki's Bitman toy, while I have always been more of an Otamatone fan myself.) I am hugely interested in incorporating humor in my work, and value the idea of the audience having fun with my work above anything else.
