Mini Project 2 | Madeline Morales

I was inspired by the Tom Igoe article and, more specifically Meiwa Denki and their whimsical artworks to create a lighthearted artwork that relies on an audience to exist. I plan to create a living artwork--the more an audience wants to interact with it, the more the piece will try to tell the audience to leave. Using the wave shield and a proximity sensor, I plan on making it so that the closer to the piece an observer is, the more aggressively the piece will tell the person to back off. If the piece is touched, it will try to frighten the aggressor. The piece is influenced a lot by my anxiety--when people loom at me I get nervous, and when people touch me I get incredibly uncomfortable, so in a way the artwork is a stand in for the artist.
