final project ideas

we are researching theremin art, and had an idea to place it in the gallery setting. Famous paintings and works usually having alarm system so the viewer can only view the work from a limited distance, does that change the interpretation of the work? will the viewer suffer through the alarm to view the work. So we were considering pairing this technology with a box, or possibly a photo cell.
