The concept for this project revolves around the idea of an interactive “E-book”. This e-book will serve as a signifier for time passage at the minimum and will be equipped with a proximity and motion sensor. I want to integrate the Processing IDE with Arduino to give a greater possibility for this project. I want the motion sensor to be able to pick up user movement above the “book” form and have a monitor react to the user’s movement visually. I am currently visualizing a dark black hole in the background when this system is inactive, and somehow map user movements above the book to a virtual representation of the movement of particles made out of letters and characters.
This project will also be equipped with a proximity sensor where some background music will play and initial light within the book will lit when it detects someone that approaches.
These 2 similar installations utilizes Kinect motion sensing and other proximity sensors to activate different systems.
