The sculpey brain is going well. I’m making the brain on a flat surface and then laying it on top of some bowls so that I can get that nice brain shape. Originally, I had wanted to make the cerebellum and have the sound sensor be at the base but working with the sculpture, I don’t think that can happen. The sculpey is much more fragile than I was expecting and while it’s not a problem, I think adding the cerebellum would throw off it’s balance and I don’t think it’s that necessary to have it.
Presenting the brain: so I went to Shay’s and they have a great selection but more and more, I’m thinking that I do want to display my brain in a medical way. I don’t know if people will understand that it’s relating to brain scans if it’s in a box and I don’t know I start thinking of weird connotations when I think of looking at a brain in a box. Plus, just technically speaking, the sound sensor I’m using is great when you’re up close to it, but if there was a glass barrier between it and the viewer, I think it would have a really difficult time picking up enough sound. Or people would start tapping the glass and it might pick up that noise and that’s not what I want to happen. So basically, the brain box is out of the equation and I’m looking into a more medical presentation. Am I thinking outside the box yet?
