Reading Response
This story is set in 2026, a time in which electronics talk to their owners, dishes wash themselves, and tiny robot mice clean houses. An old skin and bones dog moves through the house, followed by cleaning robot mice. The dog barked at every door, only to realize that the only noise in the house was the electronic noises. The dog died and was gone within hours. The electronic poem reader reads a poem aloud to the children without them having to make a single noise. The house goes up in a fire and is completely destroyed with the exception of one little clock that says, "today is August 5, 2026."
This story illustrates a world in which we don't talk to each other, and the only voices we hear are the voices of our electronics. Live animals are ignored and considered a burden to these electronics, as these electronics have pretty much taken on a life of their own.
Principles of Electricity (1945) - Part 1 & 2
Talks about what electricity is and where it comes from. Electrons make electricity. These are the fundamentals of electricity.
Collin's Lab: Electronic Tools
Talks about what tools you will need to work on electronics. Pliers are useful for soldering because they are heat resistant. Tweezers are handy for precise mounting of parts. Also goes over soldering in brief.
How To: The Basics of Breadboarding
History of the breadboard and the use of the breadboard. The first breadboards were blocks of wood that were used for cutting bread. The left and right sides are NOT connected. Red and black are for power and ground.
