There Will Come Soft Rain Reading Response
Interesting read. Very dystopian, which is a very common theme in our modern day as a topic of interest. We get a glimpse of life completely fueled by technology, and the dependency we have accumulated towards it. The detailing is articulated extremely well, where I am able to really create the space in which Bradbury has executed for us. That being said, I believe There Will Come Soft Rain is trying rather too hard to be this super complex narrative, when –in my opinion– it is a well done draft of a much bigger story. Even with taking into consideration the evident notion that Bradbury wanted his short to forgo an abundance of information, he's developed too much of the surrounding world, to just immediately dive into a moment in time, without further information after the fact. I see it working stronger as a visual, rather than in the literary medium, to the effect that the text reads as the screenplay.
