Reflection
Our midterm project has changed a lot from what we original imagined. Original we were interested in the concept of control and the idea that you really don't have control whether you think you do or not. However, the notion that if something isn't working then it's the technology's fault kind of created a obstacle for that project. After that, we started talking some more and Alisyn started talking about a project she had done that she tracked the movements of someone's hand as they were talking. This really interested me because I feel that communication was something that we were both interested in. This idea transformed into the project that we have now. Our project uses an lily pad Arduino with an lily pad accelerometer that talks to processing that records on the screen the movement of the person's movement. This creates an archetypes of space around the person that kind of defines them, which was an idea that interested me from the video I showed from the Moma exhibition with the augmented reality. I think people will see this trace and record of what a person movements look like on a 2d space instead of what the real time hands movement looks like. Also, our sensor and lily pad will be present as a jewelry piece that will be present as bracelet contraption. This relates with the idea of adornment and how what a person wears represents what their status is. This concept has been apparent in history especially in royalty portraiture. I don't think people while get the wealth and status idea from the presentation but I do think the adornment aspect will come through and the idea of record one's hand's movement while speaking.
