Thank you again Renate for posting our process! I appreciate that you included our failures because, as you said, they are all part of the learning process.
So successful, you guys! Again, I'm sorry I missed critique, but here's my two cents:
So formally, it seems as though the project is working exactly as it should be. However, I'm still slightly confused as to if relaxing your mind would crank the motor and release the balloon, or if thinking of your stress cranks the motor and releases the balloon. I'm guessing that it was thinking of stress that powers the motor.
There have been many times lately where the stress in my mind would build up and I wished that I could have let it all release in some way. This project serves as a beautiful metaphor for catharsis. I can imagine trying to move the balloon with my mind as if I were trying to build up my thoughts and focus them to achieve a productive goal. I wish I had been able to be there and experience if finally releasing the balloon would have signified some sort of mental and emotional release.
I think the setting of Plaza of the Americas that you guys chose was very appropriate, and signifies a relaxing and positive place for me. I have spent many afternoons relaxing and napping there, as it is a way to distance myself from the pressure of a classroom. My only critique might have been finding a way to hide the computer from view and maybe hiding the wires as well. The computer for me is a source of stress and when I want to relax, I make sure the computer is away and out of sight. Perhaps also in addition to hiding the computer, maybe create a more refined apparatus for the motor, to kind of hide the technology altogether.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing more with this device. The technology is truly remarkable.
