Cannabilizing NES controller for 8-bit Shift Registry, controlling NES board with modern sensors:

Given the aesthetics I am going for it seems I may be able to directly control NES with Arduino inputs. In this case I would hack a cartridge for the software interface and cut the PC completely out of the picture.
