Cuba's DIY Inventions from 30 Years of Isolation

This artist goes around cuba collecting makeshift gadgets from old equipment that no longer worked. Its interesting to notice that these pieces that might now be considered art outside of this third world country are probably just a solution to people in great need. In some ways it reminds me of how we see prehistoric art.

I like the statement one of the artists makes in this short video, "We are pretty much working as artist because weve got our own agenda".

this video makes me think about how art is defined. Does art need to have a purpose? I remember hearing once that art, in order to be art, could not have a function. Not sure what to make of this yet.
