Artists Research

Neil Harbisson

I enjoy Neil Harbisson's approach to technology and its relationship to human perception. The potential he seems to be unlocking through his experiments with "cyborg enhancements", with things like turning color into sound, are amazing and could stand as a testament to early human experimentation with bodily cybernetics in the case that it's developed upon further in later years.

Janet Cardiff

Janet Cardiff and her husband, George Bures, are an artists duo. One of the works they've done that interests me is their telephone series, where they explore the intimacy of the telephone by sharing dreams with participants if they hold the receiver to their ear. Playing with the relationship between humans and our relatively new methods of communication and technological intimacies is interesting to me.

Cory Arcangel

I heard about Cory Arcangel in Jack Stenner's class last year when he showed us Arcangel's modified Nintendo games, particularly the modified Mario cartridge. The current nature of video game culture is of particular interest to me, and while Arcangel explores various other technological venues, his experiments with games are what I enjoy looking into most.
