9/14 Observations

Objective: Observe interactions between people and people, people and the environment, people and machines.

Observation Log # 1:

Interpersonal  relationships are a deep pool of sociology and psychology.

People move out of your way when you think 'murder' and walk.

Males are more likely to move out of your way when walking if you are not dressed femininely. They are less likely to move out of the way of someone wearing a skirt.

People cling to each other, like those little bits of shaved iron in those elementary school magnetism displays.

People alternately hate and love their laptops. Pretty sure I saw someone cooing at theirs and caressing it as one would a lover.

people are really a lot more invested in their technology than they think. Also startlingly quick to personify their tech even when it is not even vaguely person-shaped.

Ear buds are everywhere, pretty sure a lot of people just wear them while walking so that they don't have to talk to anybody. That's what I do .

"piece of shit" is a super common phrase.

Saw a guy with a prosthetic leg. It was neat and it worked just as well as his real one. props to him.

Hugs are a beautiful thing, saw people hugging each other (it was really cute)

Got angry at the computer last night. It was indifferent to my emotional state.

Cars are only terrifying when there are people in them.

Elevators can induce just as many emotional states as conversations with other people. The same can be said of escalators.

There is a construction site next to my apartment. They tore down all the trees with one of those big claw machines. That makes me sad.
