Soft Rains Response

There Will Be Soft Rains is a story of a self sufficient, personified house of the future which cooks, cleans, and takes care of itself on a daily routine without any human presence. Relating this idea back to the course, the idea of lack of human presence reminds me of the taking over of electronics in our digital age. At the end of the story a fire breaks out which destroys the house. It made me think about how nature can overpower everything. This idea was portrayed in the There Will Be Soft Rains poem by Sara Taesdale. "And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn Would scarcely know that we were gone." Even though destruction may happen around us, nature will keep on with it's normal routine not even realizing what has happened.
