8/26 There Will Come Soft Rains

This short story describes a post war, post apocalyptic world were ironically, humans' technology has outlived the creator.  I did not realize the story was about the house until it described the nucelar waste land the town had become and the shadows of children playing ball burnt onto the walls of the house. This story is full of irony. The dog, who is the only surviving living creature, starves to death at the kitchen door while the freshly made breakfast is swept away by the mechanical house. The poem that is read by the house within the story describes how happy the world will be when man has destroyed himself and is gone, but the sad truth is that nature has been destroyed and man's technology has survived.  Bradbury does a great job describing how our technology can easily surpass us and how we are potentially creating the future to outdate its creators.
