In order to get my wave shield working (when it was initially working) I had to install the WaveHC library properly.
The WaveHC library provides a large library for plenty of options with the wave shield. Some of the programs it provides that are listed on the tutorial website are a 6 button player, playing the same sound once, or playing all the sounds on the SD card continuously.
