ANNIE KLOPP | Stop-Light Mini Project (non-interactive)
The stop light definitely has potential for a sensor input. The infrared distance sensor would have been great. Or construct some little housings for your lights; I had no idea the reference was stop lights until I read the subject. -Aaron
Why a stop light? I think you should consider the implications and meaning of a stop light and the colors. how could you involve the viewer? right now, it's pretty but what does it mean? --Erica
Jen - I wish there was some sort of user interaction that would clue the viewer in to what's going on here. As far as I can tell, the lights are just changing and mixing color? it's kinda unclear what you were going for here. If the goal was to see color mixing, this would have benefitted from a paper box, and if it was to see the lights change, then maybe some sort of user input. But it looks like it's working well and it's visually pleasing.
I agree with above - some interaction would have been cool! However, I am interested in the changing lights. Some context for them (like a mini sculpture that houses the LEDs or a drawing, etc) would make this piece a little more stimulating. - Shimul
Right now the timing seems maybe a little random to me? Still, that you go two sets of LEDs working with each other in synch is pretty impressive. -Madeline
i see pairs of LED lighting at the same time. This makes me think that I am supposed to look for a pattern. After watching I am not sure what the patterns mean. I wonder about the color choice of orange, red and green and what that is supposed signify. the current colors make me think about the colors of highways and traffic. cater
mtm- The stop light is interesting, but I'm not sure I would have gotten the connotation without everyone else's comments. Still super cool. Maybe for the next mini-project, add the proximity sensor to correlate with the movement of speed would really hit home with the idea,
Dreezy - Great job on getting it to work. I think to take it to the next level you could have some type of interaction and possibly have it on a larger scale. Merging that with concept would take your work to the next level.
Kelsey- I like how you have the LEDs changing on their own. I can see this being interesting on a larger scale. There is also potential for a proximity sensor if you wanted.
I like the sequential order of the light's movements; it would be interesting to see them built into an object that resembles a stoplight -Kayla
ReplyDeletei like the lights moving around i think you can go further. maybe make the lights change if it hears sounds like those cool shirts.

ReplyDeleteMaria - It'd be interesting to see the stoplight react to the person approaching like the game Stoplight.

ReplyDeleteGeorge It looked pretty cool, but maybe it would be cool for it to interact with.

ReplyDeleteThe idea is cool and interesting. The way the lights change on their own implies that their could be room for a possible proximity.

ReplyDeleteYou make the lights blink faster
ReplyDeleteIt is really cool that works without sensor and it has organization to be on and off. the timing and working LEDS all together worked very well.
