Good job for using the sensor as well as the speaker. It would have been easy to just use an LED to indicate the pressure sensor being turned on. I wonder what other sounds you could play using the pressure sensor.. maybe you could have different pressure sensors play different songs.
I agree with the person above. Using a led or incorporating a led would have made it even more exciting. All in all, I think your experimenting with the pressure sensor was successful.
Super fun! Works perfectly. Also agree with the music idea! You could have a large pressure mat with spots that play songs. Then have one spot that SCREAMS. that would be a nice surprise.
Jen - Great test of the tech that you want to use in your final project! It's obvious that you were successful with the pressure sensor sending a signal to the speaker. I wish that this piece was able to stand on it's own conceptually, perhaps if it made a different noise.
I like the idea of having an area react to pressure by creating noise. I tried pressing the mat as well as squeezing the sensor but I was unable to hear sound; I may not be interacting with it correctly. It might be interesting to experiment with different materials for the mat -Kayla
I get that this is pressure and noise. I would like to see a particular noise and there is a relationship between the idea of pressure and the quality of the noise. Why did you use styrofoam as the substrate fr the sensor? IS it related to the idea
I'm so sad that this isn't working right now because I was with you when you made it and I saw it working before! Maybe something shifted? I don't know. But from what I saw before, I think it was a very good piece! I think this is a good foundation for your final because it definitely correlates to the stepping idea you proposed. - Shimul
Kelsey- I saw it working in person this weekend so I believe you! I like that you went a step further making a video and trying to make a dance mat for it. I think the next step would be to have multiple touch sensors that have different tones to them.
Dreezy- Great Job, I know it's having some issues but I've seen it in action and I know how nice it is to interact with the sensor. Work on the mat and consistency and keep it up!
Aaron - You did not fail at making a mat! It is, indeed, a mat. Were you using the flex sensor with the mat? Or it looks like maybe the touch sensor. I think the sensor for you (and your mat) is the PIEZO! (or pressure). But the piezo should definitely pick up the weight of a person walking over the mat. You got that flex sensor workin, now stick it in something!
Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to see your complete your project and see how it works? but working with sound and touching can be good idea. I like the idea and think that how it works with forms and concept.

ReplyDeleteFun! It works properly, no problems on this end.

ReplyDeleteThe piece didnt work when i tied it, I dont know if I was doing something wrong :( but i think i tried everything.

ReplyDeleteI wish it was working. The idea of touch emitting a sound is an interesting sensor dynamic.

ReplyDeleteMaria - Wish I heard the sound, but based on previous comments it worked.
